Reed diffuser or candle? An honest comparison
People tend to pick a side. In practice the two do different jobs, and knowing which is which saves money and disappointment.
What a candle does well
A candle is an event. You light it when you want the room to change, it fills the space quickly, and the flame itself is part of the pleasure. It is right for an evening in, a bath, a dinner.
The trade-offs: it needs watching, it only scents the room while it burns, and every hour of scent costs you wax.
What a reed diffuser does well
A diffuser is a background. It works all day, every day, with no flame and nothing to remember. You stop noticing it after a while, which is the point. Guests notice it the moment they walk in.
The trade-offs: it is quieter than a candle, it takes a day or two to settle into a room, and it will not perfume a large open-plan space on its own.
Which to choose
- Hallway, bathroom, bedroom: a diffuser. Constant, low-effort, safe to leave.
- Living room: a diffuser for the everyday, a candle for the evenings you want to mark.
- A gift: a diffuser, almost always. Nobody has too many, and there is no wrong way to use one.
Our four diffusers are made by Desire Aroma and chosen by us for exactly those rooms. See the four scents.
